Apple Device
With the Voice Memos app you can use your device as a portable recording device to record personal notes, classroom lectures, musical ideas, and more. You can fine-tune your recordings with editing tools like trim, replace, and resume.
Open the Voice Memo App on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac
Tap the red circle on the bottom to start recording.
Once you’ve completed the recording tap the red square to stop.
Your recording is now saved and will appear at the top of the list with an automatically generated file name.
Tap the blue circle with three dots. It’s located on the top left of the listed recording. This will pull up a set of options. Tapping share will let you pick an app to share it.
From here you just select the option that works best for you. You could save the Memo on your device to add to an email, copy it and then paste it as an attachment into an email, or even email the Memo directly in a fresh email. You can also AirDrop it to another Apple device (like a computer).
Note: this may be different on older versions of iOS or if you’ve deleted the Voice Memos app.

Android Device
All Android devices have a built-in Voice Recording app. With this app you can record your voice, music, or other audio. Android phones come from different manufacturers and use different software versions so there may be some differences in these steps.
Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to access the App Drawer.
Depending on your device and the version of Android you’re using, you’ll see either the Voice Recorder App or a folder with the name of your phone.
Note: If you see a folder with your phone’s name, open it to access the Voice Recorder App.
Tap the Voice Recorder App to open the built-in recorder.
Press the red button to start recording.
Press the gray square at the bottom of the screen to stop recording and save the file you’ve created.
If you’re using an Android OS 6 or new model, your voice recordings will be saved to the Voice Recorder folder. Older devices save voice recordings in the Sounds folder.
Lastly, you can share it with your computer, add the file as an attachment to reply to our email, or send it back to us in a fresh email.
